Grants & Scholarships

At Ramah in the Rockies, we understand that camp is expensive! We are committed to ensuring that all Jewish children have the opportunity to engage in the magic of intentional Jewish living in a rustic outdoor environment. Scholarships are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis beginning in October each year and will be distributed until it is gone (we usually expend 80% of our scholarship funds by February). Please see below for more information on the scholarship process.

Timeline and eligibility criteria

Once you apply for a scholarship, your application will be reviewed within two weeks by our Scholarship committee. Identifying information in your application such as last names and emails will be removed to maintain anonymity. All families are eligible to apply for scholarships. Since Ramah in the Rockies opened in 2011, 95%+ of families who have applied for scholarships have received an award.

Application process

Ramah in the Rockies has a simple, streamlined application via google form. This form takes 5-10 minutes to complete. The Scholarship committee meets every two weeks to review applications. Once your application is reviewed, you will receive an email from our registrar, Sandra Yaron, with details about the committee’s decision. If necessary, you may appeal the committee’s decision by emailing scholarship@ramahoutdoors.org. The committee will review your appeal within two weeks of your email.

Required Documents

The first two pages of your most recent tax return are required to verify your income. We understand that circumstances may have changed since your last tax return was filed. Please include any pertinent information in the narrative of your application.

Decision Criteria

The committee considers all pertinent information when making a decision. This includes, but is not limited to, location, income, number of dependents, day school tuition, medical expenses, number of years at camp, and other scholarship sources. The committee endeavors to balance treating applications individually based on unique circumstances along with objective circumstances such as location, income, and other sources of aid.

Other Grants and Discounts

First-Time Camper Grants

Incentive grants may be available through the One Happy Camper program for campers from certain communities attending Jewish overnight summer camp for the first time, regardless of financial need.
After applying and paying your deposit to Ramah in the Rockies, please go to www.OneHappyCamper.org to see if you qualify.
First-time campers coming from communities without OHC funds may be able to receive a grant through Ramah Rishon, our movement’s first-time camper program. Funds are extremely limited and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

Military Families Discount

We are pleased to offer an automatic 40% discount to active duty US Military families. Please email Rabbi Eliav Bock at eliavb@ramahoutdoors.org for more information.

Local Jewish Organizations

We encourage you to also approach your local Rabbi, synagogue, or Jewish Federation to request support to send your child to Jewish camp.

If you did not use the application to upload your tax return, please email the scholarship committee the first two pages of your tax return, and include copies of schedules A, B, C, and D if applicable.
