Paying for Camp

Need-Based Financial Aid

At Ramah Outdoors, we believe that all Jewish children have the right to engage in the magic of intentional Jewish living in a rustic outdoor environment. We will work with families to ensure that they are able to afford to send their children to camp during the summer.  Please contact Rabbi Eliav Bock at eliavb@ramahoutdoors.org for a financial aid application. Please be assured that all requests for financial aid are treated with the highest degree of confidentiality, and are only reviewed by the financial aid committee of Ramah Outdoor Adventure.  Note to Colorado residents: an anonymous donor from the community has made a generous donation to assist Colorado campers who want to come to camp but need some extra financial assistance.

Incentive-Based Financial Aid

We are happy to announce two exciting programs to help first time campers attend camp!

1) JWEST
The JWest Campership Program seeks to enroll 3,000 campers from the Western United States in Jewish overnight summer camps.  Now in its third year, the JWest Campership Program awards financial incentives of up to $2,500 over multiple years to first time, middle school aged campers who attend one of 20 non-profit Jewish residential camps.  Funded by the Jim Joseph Foundation, the JWest Campership Program is an initiative through the Foundation for Jewish Camp.

Potential campers eligible to receive up to $2,500 are those who in the first year:

  • Have never attended Jewish overnight summer camp (family camp and/or winter camp participation do not disqualify potential grant recipients)
  • Will enter sixth, seventh, or eighth grade in the fall after camp
  • Are not involved in immersive Jewish experiences (day school or yeshiva)
  • Enroll in a two week (12 day minimum) session or longer
  • Reside in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming.

Campers who receive grant money in the first year and return for a second summer for at least two weeks will be eligible for a second year grant.  The total grant amount of the JWest Campership Program is $2,500, which will be distributed over a 2-3 year period.

After registering for camp, parents/guardians should visit www.onehappycamper.org and fill out the JWest Campership Program application.  Once the camper’s registration at camp has been confirmed and the JWest application has been approved, the incentive monies will be paid directly to the camp in the camper’s name.  If the camper remains on a waitlist or cancels before camp begins, no incentive monies will be awarded.

2) RISHON: A NEW CAMPER INCENTIVE PROGRAM

Ramah Outdoor Adventure in partnership with the Foundation for Jewish Camp and the National Ramah Commission is proud to announce RISHON: A New Camper Incentive Program for Ramah Outdoor Adventure — $1,000 towards tuition for your first summer at camp for 4 weeks followed by up to $750 for the second summer.
